Conned!

When I got back from Mexico, I was nicely surprised when my wife told me about the improvements my son made in school. 6 months ago, he was struggling with "ting sieh" or the Chinese equivalent of spelling. He's a "banana boy" and when my wife and I made the decision to put him in a Chinese school, it was quite a struggle for him. But he's now enjoying Chinese and even enjoys torturing himself with the stackloads of homework.

So when I got back and he told me he got a free ticket for this Lantern Show in Bukit Jalil, I thought, what the heck, bring him lah.. let him enjoy.

Nahia man... that was one big con job.

Firstly, whilst my son's entry was free, adults had to pay Five bucks each. Now, the flipping ticket had pictures of ferris wheels, great looking facades etc. When we got there, basket, that place looked like a pasar malam man. At the entrance, to the left, there was a guy frying char kueh teow for RM5. To my right, there was a malay stall selling nasi lemak.

Then when you walk in, you get
- one stall with a woman offering to "get rid of tahi lalat on your body"
- one stall selling mobile phone accessories
- one stall selling cheap China toys (the rubber yoyo thing with the spiky ball like look and 2 stick on eyeballs)
- a row of donald ducks, mickey mouse, goofy rides (the one that a five year old can sit on and the ride goes up and down, up and down, with the tune of macarena blasting)

I'm like.. WTF man... where's the "lanterns"?

Ada..... there was one big dragon made up of plates and saucers. There was a huge eagle representing the Langkawi Eagle made of CDs. There was this "thousand hand buddha". There was one or two more displays also lah.

Worth the RM5? No way! Like I said, it was like paying to visit a pasar malam man. Basket!
